The Siam Gypsum Industry (SGI) was formed in July 1982 by Siam Cement Group (SCG), the largest construction materials company in Thailand. SGI is the market leader in design, manufacturing and supply of Gypsum wall and ceiling solutions throughout the Asian region and is well recognized under the ELEPHANT brand.

In June 2001, SGI began a joint venture with Siam Cement Group (SCG) and Lafarge Boral Gypsum in Asia (LBGA) and has since grown progressively in the gypsum board market in Europe and Australia as well as leading in the global distribution network.

In December 2011, Boral announced the acquisition of Lafarge’s interest in the joint venture LBGA which become Boral Gypsum in Asia (BGA).

In March 2014, Boral Gypsum and USG Corporation came together to become the market leader across Asia, Australia and the Middle East, transforming the two companies into a world-leading building product business - USG Boral Building Products (USG Boral) and became the main stockholder. Currently, The Siam Gypsum Industry (SGI) is a joint venture of SCG (Thailand), USG (USA) and BORAL (Australia).

Operations are coordinated from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where our corporate headquarters is located. USG Boral sales offices and manufacturing facilities are established throughout Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East to provide local expertise and support to an extensive distribution and sales network that has been operating for more than 25 years. Main brand names include – USG Boral, Sheetrock, Elephant, Jaya Board, Durock and Donn DX, the world’s most widely specified and installed ceiling suspension system.

The Siam Gypsum Industry (SGI) has offered the products and services in Export markets, mainly Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Supply opportunities have been continuously developed throughout other regions such as New Zealand, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Africa countries and etc.

The Siam Gypsum Industry plants in Thailand have a gypsum board production capacity of over 100 million square meters (637 million square meters for USG Boral Group) which can meet the needs of customers, covering all regions. Including sales to customers in export markets.
